I always had to hit PRTSC, then paste it to a word doc. Save it and then upload.

In an online game I play, though, I hit PRTSC and it sends a screen shot (JPG) to a folder within the game for me to view later.

Hit the same Print Screen button. Then open Paint and click CTRL+V to paste. Save, then upload.

After you take PRTSC button, go to Paint or Adobe Illustrator and paste (or hit Ctrl+V) and there you have it. Then Save it.

If you’re using Windows Vista, there is an application called clipping tool which allows you to take cropped screenshots of your screen. Just follow this: start – all programs – accessories – clipping tool.

Alt+Print Screen (or PRTSC) will take a snapshot of the active window, Shift+Print Screen will take a snapshot of the whole desktop.

once you have used one of the above methods, you can paste it back to your document using the usual paste functions of that application (usualy right click then paste or Ctrl+V)

Why would I tell you?

Hitting the printscreen button just adds your screenshot to the clipboard. You can use a basic photo editor such as Microsoft paint and paste it into there. Then you can crop off anything that you don’t want in your screenshot, save it, and you now have your screenshot.

If I remember correctly, the PRTSC button on Toshibas requires that you hold down the FN (Function) key. If the PRTSC word on the key has an outline around it, or is in a different color, this is probably correct. So, try holding down the FN key, and then press PRTSC.

Then open Word, or MS Paint, or another such program, and paste. Your image should appear. Save the file and you can then upload it anywhere you wish.
